Carbon TIME includes six Next Generation Science Standards-aligned middle and high school teaching units and coordinated 3-dimensional assessments that focus on processes that transform matter and energy in organisms, ecosystems, and global systems, culminating in students' explanation of global carbon cycling. Across units, intentional scaffolds support student's inquiry practices, evidence-based argumentation, and construction of model-based explanations while explicitly elevating the crosscutting concepts of matter, energy, and scale.
