MSU STEM Education event; join us for SEISMIC week!
The SEISMIC Collaboration will be hosting events during the MSU Week of SEISMIC to help promote efforts in advancing STEM Education at MSU. As a member of the STEM Education community, we hope that you will be able to join us for some or all of the afternoons on May 16th and May 18th.
The first community event will be an end-of-semester social with the opportunity to learn more about the amazing work happening on campus. On Monday, May 16th from 2-5pm, we will have a gathering in room 1202 of the STEM building. Interested participants will be able to provide a 1 slide, 1-minute “lightning introduction” of themselves and the work they are involved in. These brief introductions are designed to help people identify others with whom they might want to connect during the subsequent social time. Refreshments will be provided for the event. If you are interested, please register for the event by filling out the registration form here. Instructions for your lightning introduction will be sent to you via email if you express interest in giving on.
The second community event will focus on the relationship between STEM Education Research and administrative policies. The Wednesday, May 18th from 2-5pm session will seek to bring together MSU STEM Education Researchers, institutional data analysts, and policymakers. Through presentations and short workshop sessions, we will explore questions at the interface of research and policies and try to address questions such as “how can we develop structures that enhance the role of research results in policy creation?” or “How can build upon existing communication mechanisms between researchers and administrative policymakers?” Refreshments will be provided for the event. If you are interested, please register for the event by filling out the registration form here.
More details will be added to the MSU Week of SEISMIC webpage including a more detailed schedule for the afternoon.
