This professional learning prepares teachers to teach Health in Our Hands (HiOH), two 10-week life science units for middle school aligned with the Michigan Science Standards covering modern concepts in genetics. During the workshop, teachers will choose ONE of the following units for focus during break out into small groups:

• What Controls My Health? focuses on Type 2 diabetes; recommended for 6th/ 7th grade.
• How Can Looking for Thrills Make Me Miserable? Focuses on substance use disorder; recommended for 7th/8th grade.

We are planning for both virtual workshops and for in-person at the Genesee Career Institute, according to COVID policies at the time.
